This position was through Peyton Resource Group. I had communicated via phone and email regularly with a recruiter from Peyton Resource Group. The recruiter told me the position would start March 26. I told her I had a vacation April 3-9, which is a week after the start date. She said she it shouldn't be an issue but would make sure this was ok. I emailed her a couple days later and she told me I was still good to interview. She gave me a thorough description of the job and questions that were to be discussed during the interview.
Well, the interview started with questions about sales experience and getting sales. This was not a sales position and I was not prepared to answer questions about my selling abilities. I spent a lot of time planning to discuss how my previous experience relates to this position and I had prepared answers to the questions provided by the recruiter. After the sales questions I was asked if I had any conflicts with training from March 26-Mid April. I told the interviewer about my planned vacation. He said it would be a problem to miss that training time. He didn't even try to come up with a compromise. I told him that I had already told this to the recruiter.
USAA has shown me that they have poor communication and no respect for others time. On top of all the planning I put in, I drove 45 minutes one way to their office and had to take a day off from my current job without pay. I am very disappointed with USAA. I expected better from them.
