I met USAA representatives at a career fair at my university. We just had a casual friendly conversation and they asked me to come for an interview. The day before the interview all the candidates were invited to dinner to a local restaurant. This gave us a chance to get to know each other better. The USAA employees that I had the opportunity to communicate with were all very friendly and polite, and they made a good impression. They told us to relax and just be ourselves at the interview which took some of the stress off those who were nervous. Next day, at the interview, they were all very nice as usual and made us feel very comfortable. I personally learned a lot from the interview. They really seemed to understand where we were in our knowledge of programming. Most of the questions were scenario based. One easy logic problem and one somewhat difficult design problem was given towards the end. My interviewer was actually nice enough to tell me how I did at the end and what I could do to improve myself which meant a lot to me. Moreover, he actually emailed me some documents and resources the next day that would help me learn things that were not taught in school and that companies were looking for. I feel much more prepared for future interviews after this interview.
