You need first to submit all application materials to the coordinator of the department that you would like to work for and wait for their further notice. Most of the department will evaluate candidates based on their application materials and recommendation letters. For others, a short interview is needed. The interview is usually casual and informal, between a faculty and the candidate.

I sat for a pretty simple call with the chair of the department regarding my different teaching interest. He showed me the list of available courses, and after stating which one I believed I'd be the best fit for, the chair proceeded to ask me a series of questions about the ways my previous experiences listed on my resume prepared me for the position

Professor Asked about how you deal with students when they are not engaged in group discussion. A follow up being how you deal with students with special requests such as extension.
For this position, I completed an online application, no telephone, video, or in person interview following the online application process. It was all online on a google form that had a rolling submission date.
