I submitted an application online through Dice.com and NexTec recruiting agency emailed me about available positions that I qualify for. I was asked to provide an updated resume to include additional pertinent experiences and skills relating to the position. My updated resume was submitted through NexTec's system and 3 companies responded. I selected one company that I was interested in due to the location of the position.
A few days later, the vice president of the company called me for the initial phone interview. It was a very pleasant and informal interview and we established rapport rather quickly. He was upfront with the position and the requirements for the job. I responded that I was able to do the position but with additional training to be comfortable.
I realized at the end of the interview the VP was advising me that he was looking for someone to take over his position and someone who requires little or no training at all. Based on my resume I would have been a perfect fit for his shoes, however since I mentioned that I was not comfortable and would require refresher training then it diminished my chance for the job opportunity.
