I was referred by a colleague, and applied online. About a week later I was contacted by HR and asked to come in for an interview. I came in for an interview about another week from the phone call. I flew in, so perhaps this isn't always common, but I met with HR and had an interview, then had an interview with a couple of people in the department. Interview time lasted roughly two hours. I was asked for my references a couple days later, then was offered the job about 6 days after the interview.
