Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear it felt like your time was wasted. That is never our intention.
At TryHackMe, we hire across more than 36 countries. As part of our standard process, we ask candidates to share their salary expectations during the application. In many cases, location is not included in the application, so this helps us understand expectations and ensure alignment early. If this information has not been provided, we ask during the first conversation. This avoids taking up more of your time unnecessarily, as screening calls can often take 30 minutes or more, therefore in this case the compensation was not submitted prior to the call.
We compensate based on geographical location, experience, interview performance and live benchmarks powered by Ravio (www.ravio.com). This helps us offer competitive and fair compensation. In this case, it sounds like your expectations were above the range for the role, so we were not able to move forward.
In response to your comment about trying to look busy, our talent team is actually very lean with just two people. We review hundreds of applications every week. We would not have invited you to an interview unless we genuinely believed you could be a good fit for the role. Unfortunately, the salary range meant we could not continue with the process this time.
We appreciate your interest in TryHackMe and wish you all the best in your job search.
