I asked if they were hiring, and they said they were hiring holiday help. I submitted my application, and a mate interviewed me briefly right then. They asked "why Trader Joe's," and what my favorite products are. The mate was friendly and said that the second interview would be scheduled sometime in the next week or so and to expect a phone call, but to check in if it's been longer than a few days. I got a call about three days later with an invite for a second interview with another mate. The Captain was on vacation. This mate asked about my strengths, how I deal with conflict or a difficult customer, and how my previous co-workers would describe me. The next interview was a week or so later with the Captain. She asked how I make work fun, why I wanted to work at Trader Joe's, and how I would deal with a difficult customer. There were other questions but I forget what they were.

I was not hired! It was a new store so it was a very competitive position. I was emailed the day after my application, but denied shortly after the call. I am under the assumption that this location prefers experienced people.
