Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 4 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Total Quality Consulting (Monrovia, CA) en oct 2024

      Entrevista

Had 3 stages with a phone screening, panel interview, and personal presentation to a group of people. Each stage was an around an hour or more and required answering typical questions along with some odd overly personal ones that shouldn't be asked. Took forever to make their decision and then proceeded to decline me based on a quality that was not relevant to the job. Require you to go through way too much for bottom of the market pay and ask way too many personal questions that most companies would never ask.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We truly appreciate hearing from candidates, as it helps us continue to improve our processes and maintain transparency. At TQC Team, we take great pride in our training program, which has a proven track record of helping individuals—particularly recent graduates without prior recruiting experience—quickly develop into highly capable recruiters. Beyond that, we genuinely care about getting to know our team members and candidates as people, not just as applicants. This is why we are genuinely curious about candidates' life stories and who they are beyond their resumes and skillsets. We strongly believe that the technical aspects of the job can be taught when both sides are committed to growth, but each individual brings something unique to the team. While we understand that this approach may not work for everyone, other candidates have expressed that they value the personal nature of our process, as it makes them feel heard and appreciated. We’re sorry to hear that this wasn’t a suitable approach for you. Regarding your comment about being declined for a quality not relevant to the job, we would like to clarify that we do not decline candidates based on unrelated skills. Several core skills—such as computer proficiency—are required upfront for the role. In your case, if we recall correctly, a particular skillset you highlighted during the interviews caught our attention and prompted us to explore an alternative direction beyond the role you initially applied for. As part of this process, we requested examples of your academic work to help us make a well-informed decision. Unfortunately, since you weren’t able to provide those samples, the process took longer than usual, as we wanted to ensure we thoroughly explored all potential fits before making a final decision. While we ultimately weren’t able to move forward, we truly appreciate the time and effort you invested throughout the process. Lastly, we recognize that the recruitment process can be time-consuming, but our intention is always to be thorough and find the best match. We understand that the decision-making timeline may have felt extended in this case, and we’ll take your feedback into consideration to ensure a smoother experience in the future. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts. We wish you the very best in your future endeavors.

Interview consisted of one phone interview and one in-person group panel interview. The interviewer felt very wishy-washy as they told me to call THEM back if I was interested in proceeding. Although my interviewer was professional, I did feel as though the in person group interview panel felt odd being as it was in an apartment townhome on fold-out chairs. I think the fact that the interview took place in a private apartment did feel a little unsafe and off putting as opposed to a public space but maybe that's just me. When asking about the work environment, the interviewers did become fairly defensive and frankly, just as off-putting.

They asked a lot about personal stories and getting to know the "real me".

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We genuinely appreciate hearing from candidates, as it helps us continually improve our process. We’d like to take a moment to address a few points you raised. First, regarding our practice of asking candidates to call us back if they are interested in moving forward—this is something we do with all candidates. The intent is to empower candidates by giving them control over the next steps after receiving feedback. We decided to implement this approach because we understand how important the candidate’s experience is. Too often, candidates are placed in a passive position where they simply interview and wait for a decision. Our hope with this practice is to reverse that dynamic, giving candidates the opportunity to take the lead after reflecting on the opportunity. We understand that this might be a new and unfamiliar approach, and it may not suit everyone. Our goal is always to provide candidates with the time and space to decide whether the opportunity is right for them. Regarding the interview setting, we are a small company, and if you had the chance to research us, you may have noticed that we are transparent about who we are, including showing our team members on our website. While our office space at the time was smaller, the environment is professional, and we don't have any fold-out chairs as described. It’s possible there may have been some confusion or misremembering from another experience. We strive to be transparent, which is why we conduct in-person interviews—to give candidates a clear view of the environment they would be working in. We're glad you had the opportunity to experience it firsthand and understand that it wasn’t the right fit for you. That said, we’re excited to share that we have recently moved into a much larger office space, thanks to our ongoing growth. Lastly, we’re sorry that the group panel interview didn’t feel as open as intended. Our interviewers aim to be communicative and share as much as possible with candidates, sometimes even beyond the scope of the questions asked. If there were unanswered questions during your interview, we would have been happy to provide further clarification or follow-up. Should you ever consider revisiting opportunities with us in the future, we’d be more than happy to engage in a more detailed conversation. Again, thank you for your feedback, and we wish you the very best in your career journey.
