I was very surprised that the interviewer, who works as HR, doesn't even have basic HR law knowledge. Per state law, employers must disclose the job pay range when asked by a candidate. The interviewer refused to disclose it and said it's confidential. That was straight up illegal. When I asked the interviewer about the current structure of the HR department in this team that this position supports, she again said it's confidential information. Why couldn't you disclose the positions in the HR department in order to let the candidate have a realistic expectation of the work environment? That's basic information. When I asked her if there is anything not on the job description that I should pay attention to, she misinterpreted my question. I concluded the interviewer definitely lacks basic HR law knowledge as well as English language skills. It was a negative interview experience in general.

The whole interview was conducted in Mandarin, it was 45 minutes in total. The interviewer has specific questions to ask which is highly related to the job itself. The final session is Q&A, the process is considered efficient.
