Phone screen was standard and easily moved to next round which was the assessment activity. Unnecessarily formal (what could be summarized in an email or Word doc is requested in slide presentation) and I spent several hours trying to make this professional and thorough. Within 24 hours I was contacted and moved to the next stage which was two stages of interviews taking about three hours. Agreed to the meeting invites and arranged time away from my current employer (given the time commitment, I took a full day of hard earned PTO to accommodate Thumbtack). Two days before these interviews, I was contacted and told they had “moved forward with another candidate” and I was never allowed the opportunity to interview. Word of caution to candidates: unless you are aching for this job, don’t invest much time in the exercises or the interview process as they pull the plug on you if someone comes along before you. The assessment needs to come after conversations with the hiring manager, if at all. I don’t blame the recruiter as she was simply following their processes but this left a bad taste in my mouth and while the position was a great fit, I am unlikely to pursue another position with Thumbtack,
