The interview process was very normal. First, a phone screening with HR. Second, a phone interview with the hiring manager and one of their direct reports. Lastly, an onsite interview including the hiring manager and several of their direct reports.
This process stretched over several months and culminated in being alerted that the hiring manager had waited and instead proceeded to hire an internal candidate who had this position posted for them. Considering how Thrivent boasts that it is named one of the "World's Most Ethical Companies" by the Ethisphere Institute, it's astonishing how unprofessional the company looks by doing this. If a job is only meant for an internal candidate, it should only be posted internally, not publicly. This has happened before so I know the first time wasn't a coincidence.
