      Entrevista para Supply Chain Consultant

Me postulé a través de una agencia de empleos. El proceso tomó 1 semana. Acudí a una entrevista en Thrive Technologies (Marietta, GA) en jun 2019

      Entrevista

Day 1: Third-party recruiter called me and had me go over my background. He forwarded my info to Thrive and they asked to proceed. They sent over an analytical assessment which was basically a 40-question exam over simple Algebra word problems. The toughest part was the relatively short amount of time given to take the exam. Day 4: The external recruiter called to say I passed and that Thrive would like to proceed with a cultural survey. This survey was basically a list of 100 character traits where you select which traits best describe you. The second part was the same list, but this time you had to select which traits would describe an ideal person in this role. Day 6: I received a call that I passed and that the hiring manager would like to schedule a phone interview. However, I'd just received an offer from a different company and so they agreed to skip to the final on-site interview. Day 7: I had my on-site interview. It consisted of two 1-on-1 rounds: first with the hiring manager and then with the CEO. Each round was about 45 minutes and consisted of questions about random lines on my resume and some typical behavioral-based questions. More on that below. About 2 hours after my interview, the external recruiter called to let me know Thrive decided not to extend an offer. More on that below. Oh, boy. What an experience. The interview seemingly went pretty well. The behavioral based questions were standard. I was able to answer the questions about my resume. I even had a casual discussion with the CEO about playing tennis and the school districts in the area which I grew up in (where he currently lives). Needless to say, I was shocked when I was told Thrive would not extend an offer. Even more shocking were the reasons they provided. They didn't like the reason I'd left one of my previous companies (which was because the role I was building up to was eliminated and I was left in limbo). I remember being asked this during my interview and there were no follow up questions about it. Also, they had doubts about my SQL abilities. I was asked ONE question about SQL which was "do you feel comfortable writing/executing basic SQL queries?" to which I answered "yes, I have done so in multiple roles in the past," and again, no follow-up questions. When I explained this to the external recruiter, I asked if he would be willing to schedule a call with Thrive to go over any reservations and to clear up any confusion. He agreed that this was worth pursuing (after all, he wanted the commission), and said he would reach out to Thrive and let me know. This was the last I heard from the external recruiter. I reached out to Thrive's CEO on LinkedIn, but got no response. Honestly, if that's the way they treat people then I'm extremely glad I accepted my other offer, and I have no qualms about it.

      Pregunta 1

Why did you leave (insert company name)? Do you feel comfortable writing/executing basic SQL queries?
