Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 4 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en The Home Depot (Spokane Valley, WA) en mar 2013

      Entrevista

I applied online over a month ago. Out of nowhere, almost 4 weeks after applying, I received a call from a 770 number. I let it go to voicemail since I didn't know the number and then I listened to a automated voice telling me it was the Home Depot staffing center and that they wanted me to call to ask me some questions over the phone. I called them, a lady answered and she asked me if it was ok to take a small interview over the phone. She asked me if I was ok with the salary, work type, schedule, availability, accepting terms, and then set up an in store interview for 2 weeks later. The next day, I got a call from the lady who I was supposed to interview with in two weeks and she asked if I could come in earlier. So she switched my interview from 2 weeks later, too 4 days later and switched who I would interview with. When I went to the interview, I put on black pants, a black button up shirt, with a blue tie and wore my black Oakley shoes. Went in and was asked if I was there for an interview, asked who I was being interviewed by, and then they had me sit on a small metal bleacher next to the front counter while they called back to let them know I was there. The phone rang to the front and I was told to go the office in the back of the building. I interviewed with a really cool guy who made it really easy to talk and answer the questions. When I sat down, he told me right off the bat that I would be payed $9.75/hour, be working night shifts in the garden center that has a time frame of 9PM-6AM and would be Monday-Sunday. Then he said I have 6 questions for you and we went through them and I was finished in about 15 minutes. He then told me that he had several more people to interview that week and then the following Tuesday he would make calls. Something I liked was that he said "I'm good with making the good phone calls, but bad with the bad. If I want you, I will call you on or before Tuesday and if you don't get a call, it was probably bad news and I didn't want to have to tell you. I honestly didn't think he would call me/ almost hoped he wouldn't because I didn't tell him about my some schedule conflicts. Once again, out of nowhere, today I got a phone call from a lady from the Home Depot asking me if I could come in and have another interview with the same guy right away. I was shocked, but got dressed again, ran over only to find out that he just wanted me to fill out paper work. Right before I let him go to far into it, I decided I needed to tell him that I had two scheduling problems. One at the end of the month for a family thing, and another for a wedding in two months. He told me not to worry, "we won't own you haha". That made me so excited and we filled out and signed all the paper work and background check info. After everything was finished he shook my had and said I was now a member of the Home Depot! The last part was that he surprised me with a drug test that I had about 30 minutes to go take downtown. That was an experience all in it's self seeing as I had never done a drug test before and didn't know I was going to be taking one right after. But I've never drank or done drugs so I'm good there. I'm excited, and so far, my experience with the Home Depot has been awesome!
