I waited a little while to submit this interview review to ensure that I’d given the employer adequate time to respond. They never did so here we go: Similarly to the review below, I also went through a 3 step interview process over the course of a few weeks. This started with an initial call with the hiring manager and a first interview during which I was notified that, if successful, the second interview would take place the following Monday, and I would be required to complete a task ahead of this. By the end of the working week after the first interview I had received no response and, given the fact that the second interview was supposed to go ahead on the following Monday, I assumed I was unsuccessful. I then received a request to complete the interview task on the Friday, due by EOD Saturday. This seemed odd given that I would not be required to work Saturdays and would never expect to be assigned a task over the weekend due to potential personal conflicts but I went ahead, keeping to the communicated deadline. I also asked how we would be able to go ahead with Monday’s call if nothing had been scheduled, I was then notified that this would likely go ahead on Wednesday, which I understood – recruiting timelines change. However, it then got to Tuesday and I had heard nothing, again, I thought that maybe I hadn’t gotten through to the next round. I then received an email on Tuesday EVENING, inviting me to the second interview for the next day in the early afternoon. I was pretty shocked to be given less than 24 hours to prepare for a panel interview but again, I went ahead. After what I would describe as a relatively pleasant panel interview with 5 current employees, I followed up with the hiring manager via email to ask when I could expect to hear back. I received no response. I followed up again 3 weeks later. Again, no response. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed that an organisation that claims to advocate for human rights measures would so frivolously waste applicants’ time when their (and their families’) livelihoods depend on this income. Throughout the process there was a blatant disregard for my time and the effort that had been put into the interviews and tasks, and honestly, if that’s an indication of the way that work is done, it’s best to steer clear of this organisation. I would, under no circumstances, recommend that someone apply there, and I think that serious cultural changes need to be made if this is representative of their internal processes.
