I hate to say that this was one of my top 2 worst experiences applying for a job. Their website is chock full of how they respect your time and have a great process. I am passionate about theatre and was already working in arts admin, so it felt like a good fit. First it was a whole application with several long form essays and including sending a 5 minute video. Different. 1-2 minutes I've done before, 5 is kind of long. But I understood, I guess - Get to know me if we can't be face to face first thing. They required us to fill out a personality quiz. It reminded me of the kind you see on facebook "say what type of food you eat at McDonalds and we'll tell you your favorite color". Ok, it wasn't that bad, and I know personality is important in an office environment. Here's the catch, IT COST $20! There was a free version, but Broadway Collective said they would not accept it. Excuse me? Who created this quiz that they are in bed with? It took me 3 hours to do the $20 quiz, on top of a while to do the essays and questions. Then I heard nothing. Fine, if you don't want to hire me, but why all the bubbaloo of respecting my time, giving updates, telling me when it's filled, etc. Doesn't exist. Live up to your words. I never had any real interaction with anyone at the company. Then, the absolute NAIL IN THE COFFIN is that after that, they put me on their promo emails. I got their marketing emails. Like I'm a child that would sign up for class. Such bad form.
