I appeared for multiple interview rounds for an SDET position, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing due to a lack of role alignment:
Screening Round: Asked basic Java question to compare two strings.
Java DSA Round 1: One question involving ships and containers (typical DSA scenario).
Java DSA Round 2: Two additional Java DSA questions.
Testing Round (Misleading): Despite being labeled a "Testing Round," it again focused solely on Java DSA.
Testing Round 2: Another 1.5-hour session entirely focused on Java DSA problems.
After completing all these rounds, I was rejected without any feedback. What's most surprising is that for a Testing/SDET profile, not a single question related to testing concepts, frameworks, automation tools, or test strategies was asked throughout the process.
This experience made it clear they were essentially evaluating candidates for a Java Developer role, not an SDET. Candidates applying for SDET positions should be aware that the expectations may not align with the job title. Overall, it felt like a miscommunication of the role, resulting in a frustrating and unproductive interview experience.
