It started with a phone call to let me know that I have been shortlisted into one of the 100 applicants that could be invited over for a group assessment, and after passing the assessment I would be invited for a one on one interview. It took them quite a while to get back to us. More than 200 applied for the position, 100 got called for, 33 were at the assessment, and they only needed 1 or 2 people for the position. Needless to say, competition was fierce.
The assessment was to go on from 9AM till 5PM with an hour break. It started with a presentation about Tenaris, about 20 minutes long, then each person talked a little about themselves and why they chose to apply to Tenaris. After all introductions were made, each person was given 45 minutes to complete 40 questions. The next part was a group case study where we were placed in predetermined groups and had to brainstorm ideas during the hour long break and come up with 6 solutions to a problem that Tenaris might face; problem being they cannot supply the pipes on time. Then another case study was given and new groups were formed. The final part of the assessment included asking different people random questions just to put them on the spot and see how they deal with them.
