My recent experience with Telesat's hiring process was unfortunately quite disappointing. I was invited for an initial screening interview, which I had scheduled in advance. A few days before the meeting, on a Friday evening after business hours, I received an unexpected email from HR postponing the call. When the interview finally took place, it lasted only a few minutes. Right at the start, the recruiter told me they had already extended an offer to another candidate and that this conversation was more like a networking opportunity. The next question was whether I had Canadian permanent residency (PR), which was not mentioned in the job description. As soon as I replied that I didn’t, the interview was ended. The job search process is often stressful, time-consuming, and emotionally draining. It is disheartening to see companies disregard candidates’ time and effort so casually. I hope Telesat and similar organizations take more care in designing a respectful and transparent recruitment process in the future.
