Normal panel interview consisting of 3 people asked a series of about 20 questions Commissioning test - given a laptop and some instruction to come up with titles based around a particular topic Phone interview after to decide between candidates, asked some questions about science and the background of the journals.

I was asked to submit a recorded video interview as the first round. They have an entire system where you can record and submit your questions, including videos of how to go through the process. I answered about 6 questions, had 30 seconds to prepare for each question before the camera started recording, and 60-90 seconds to answer each question. I could not review my answers or rerecord them. While the questions themselves were standard, it was very off putting that they couldn't take the time to have a real interview. I did not hear from them about whether they were or were not moving forward with my application, which felt even more impersonal after the video interview.
