The interview process had consisted of 1 phone interview, 1 Zoom interview, and then a final 3-hour product demo presented in front of a team of hiring managers. I spent about 20 hours preparing for the 3-hour demo after making it through the other calls, only for my hiring manager to call me the day before the demo and explain that the company was freezing its hiring process for the time being. The manager explained that they did not know how long the freeze would last, but that I was a great candidate, did nothing wrong, and that they would call me once they started hiring again. They never contacted me.
