First the recruiter called told about the contract assignment that they are trying to fill. Next it was a Facetime interview with the recruiter, where more details were asked and made aware of different contract roles they are trying to fill. The recruiter scheduled one technical interview with one of their contractors and I guess this is how they do it. I know one of my friends does that and they pay him in the form of gift cards for the hours he has spent on interviewing people. The technical interview guy was very rude, judgmental, egoistic. He did not have any empathy or courteousness. Very very bad experience.
