Recruiter reached out for a phone screen after I applied. At the end of the screen, I was asked to provide references from most recent employer. I was ghosted after submitting those references. I actually saw the reference my previous employer sent and it was a great referral so I don't think that's the reason I was ghosted. It's been a month now with no communication from the recruiter despite my follow up attempts. I obviously am not in the running for that role anymore but I just wanted to share my experience.
