Applied and got a call back for interview in two weeks. Interview got rescheduled twice (red flag). Interview went ok, the director told me to come in to the office for an unpaid Revit trial to test my Revit ability. The task was to design a project they completed to see my conceptual thinking. I finished in three days and they asked me to continue working on the documentation (red flag) - ended up spending another two days to finish the whole concept and doc package. Took them another two weeks to get back to me.

Advertised their job ad as a private advertiser in seek and got a call from their admin when I submitted my CV. We set up an interview the week after and I was interviewed by one of the Directors. The interview went really well. At the end of the interview, I asked what the next steps are and he said he'll go through the other applications and hopefully finalize everything asap. Got a call from the same admin the day after the interview and said if I was available to undergo a revit test as I passed the interview. She said I will be given the contract straight after I do the test. I asked how long does it usually take. She said "it depends on how fast I complete what's been asked of me." (vague) I still went in to do the test at 11am. It turns out that the test was actually doing project-based work already. There was no clear indication of what the "test" was or what was expected of me. The architect who assigned me the task asked me to work on the same project as her but once I completed 2 sheets of drawings, I asked if this was enough to understand my technical skills / level in Revit. This was at 3pm as I took my lunch at 1pm. She went up to the director to ask if that was enough and the director said to "just keep going" and "do the other parts". (I overheard him as it was a small office). I had to stay until 6pm to try and complete the rest of the other drawings. The architect said I had to go back the next day and continue where I left off from. Again, this was an unpaid experience. They masked it as "Revit test" or "software training" but this is unethical and by law, not right. I emailed them the next day to say I will not be proceeding with my application anymore.
