I applied for a red team role and in the interview they asked me a bunch of blue team questions. It was confusing. Turns out they wanted me to try out for the sys admin role. I did the task to the junior level of that role. Then they told me they couldn't hire me because they need someone more than a junior. I don't understand. They knew I am not a sys admin. And if they want to hire an experienced sys admin. They don't need to put me through a task to find out. I have no sys admin background on my CV and it was clear I don't know blue team role during the interview. To me it was a lead-on. Making me think I have a shot when I don't. It was a big waste of my time.
