      Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 2 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Surfdome Shop (Londres, Inglaterra) en nov 2016

      Entrevista

      Stage 1 was a face to face with their MD in a coffee shop. One hour chat where you are given the low down on all the challenges they face and was asked to provide examples of how I've addressed those in previous roles. Very open and honest dialog and came across as a leader who you'd want to work with in an environment that will be challenging but rewarding. Stage 2 was a week later in their very nice offices and a 90 minute grilling with their Finance Director and Head of People (aka HR) which almost entirely focused on behavioural type stuff. I was thrown somewhat as the session was very negative. Not from me but they were uber negative about their parent company and their Technology team i.e. 1. Do you know about the financial losses our parent company is making? 2. Tech are nice people but they don't know what they're doing and deliver bad software, how would you fix them? 3. People are leaving and more about to follow. How would you fix that? As focus was entirely behavioural, I figured towards the end that I'd try and engage more with the HR person so asked about what their company culture and values were. That shutdown pretty quickly as I was told that was a good question and they really should get round to defining those. I was not asked any technical questions at any time during either stage and no member of the technology team was included in the interview process which also felt odd. It's obvious they're not sure what they want but a big brother for the team is high on their agenda. I was not offered the role in the end with nothing more than a 'not a perfect culture fit' excuse which did make me laugh. Anyone going in to interview for this role should focus on behavioural and nothing else. Focus on troubleshooting, team and moral building and forget anything around strategy, vision, technology stack etc. That said, if you are able to get your face to fit, there are plenty of cool challenges awaiting a Technologist in that environment so don't be put off applying
