The recruiter called me the day after I applied. He explained how the interviewing and hiring process worked in great detail, and made sure to answer my questions before moving on. I was contacted by the recruiter first which took a half hour, then a week later did an interview with the immediate supervisor over my position. This took roughly an hour. It took another week before I was given an offer, and they wanted me to start on a date I wasn't able to. When I pointed this out, the recruiter immediately pushed the start date back to accommodate my leaving the job I was at.
