Applied online through the website - received a phone call literally within 12 hours of my online application, asking me to come in two days later for an interview with the Assistant Manager.
I entered the store about 20 minutes early for my interview, and was told that the interview would be at exactly the time we arranged. I spent 20 minutes awkwardly walking the store, pretending to look at products on the shelf until I was re-approached by the Assistant Manager for the interview.
We went into a storeroom (which was quite odd), surrounded by boxes with two chairs in the middle and the interview began. The questions were very simple, and most of them focused on sales. There were no questions about computer knowledge other than looking at my application, which concerned me, as this is supposed to be a computer repair/installation position but I was asked purely about sales.
Oddly enough, the Assistant Manager was a little too honest about things. He outright said clear as day they were attempting to copy and take business from Best Buy and that my job would be identical Geek Squad. He admitted to me that he felt I would not be paid enough for the position, if I took it - these were his actual words. This later proved to be true - I found out during the second interview that technicians were paid the same as cashiers, while still working registers plus meeting sales goals and repairing computers. Twice the work for the same pay.
We briefly discussed hours, but nothing was set in stone. I was told I would be called to confirm a second interview and take a test on the computer for technical knowledge.
The computer test was extremely brief, consisting of only about 10 questions of incredible ease - it's basically just there to separate people who know nothing about computers to those who basics. I was even shown a picture of a RAM stick and asked what it was.
The second interview was incredibly casual, and no additional questions were asked. The job was already in the bag, and this was just to sign some papers and set hours and training.
Overall, the interview was extremely easy and simple, the whole process taking less than 20 minutes in the store.
