I had two video interviews with the Splunk team. This was after exchanging messages with the HR team to arrange interviews with the hiring manager and the second interview with a sales specialist who would be part of the process as a seasoned veteran in that business unit. I was an internal referral for the role from an individual who had directly worked with the HM and AE.
The first interview with the HM started late, as the HM had a delayed end to a previous meeting, and he communicated that he needed a late start. This led to a shorter meeting than planned (45 minutes instead of 60), and it felt rushed even though we were able to exchange questions about the role and responsibilities as well as attempt to connect to see if a cultural fit would be present. It was billed as an initial call but we all know that they never are. Overall, I felt the discussion was mostly positive knowing that a couple of the answers could have been slightly more concise or specifically directed to the role.
2nd interview was 1 week later as part of the process with the sales specialist. It was planned for 30 minutes as again a chance for that AE to understand how I would execute on strategy in the role. I explained my approach to working to lead a team and interacting with customers and partners to drive revenue and growth. At the end of the call the AE said he would be providing feedback the next business day to the HM and that he would definitely want me moving to the 3rd and final round which was to be a panel interview and presentation.
No further contact was made from the hiring team or HM. Not getting even a basic form letter rejection was disappointing in the process, we can't all be selected but after two rounds I expect at least the template.
