A couple of months after applying to the position I received a call and email late on a Friday afternoon requesting me to come onsite for an interview the following Wednesday, I was given two time slots. Fairly short notice considering this was the week before Christmas. After a brief phone call with the recruiter it was clear that they wanted to get me in for an interview ASAP, so I shuffled things around and took a couple of hours of PTO to find a time that day that worked for both of us, which they were able to accommodate. Onsite interview was conducted by a team of three managers from related departments, including the hiring manager. In-person interview was very structured, with specific questions that were "scored" by each of the interviewers. It felt a bit rigid and very impersonal, not what I'm used to for IT related positions - then again this is a pretty old-school company. The interview went fairly well and I was more than qualified for the position. They said they would be making a decision that week, and that I would hear back by the next week at the latest, regardless of whether or not I got the position. I did not hear anything back even after a follow up email to the recruiter after the holiday, no big surprise here. After the urgency from their side and them being aware of my taking PTO and rearranging my schedule at the last minute going into a big holiday, you'd think they would have the decency to shoot off a quick response to my email letting me know the status of my candidacy instead of ghosting me.
