To be clear, this review is in reference to SoBro's role as a Worksite Provider for the NYC Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) that occurs every summer. I'm very grateful for SoBro's role in the community. However, they've become increasingly disorganized and there's a lack of consideration for the kids applying. For example, the job selection/interview process for this summer just took place last week. Kids were standing outside the building for 3+ hours without chairs. I heard people complaining about their backs hurting. It looked like they were letting up 15 kids every 30 minutes when you have close to a hundred kids standing on line. You do the math. That's unacceptable. There's no doubt the people upstairs are working all day. But if you have to hire more workers, hire more workers. If you need more help, get more help. In addition to this, there's some loopholes about the particulars of the documents the kids need to bring. One person tells you something doesn't qualify and another tells you no it works. Just CONFUSION and CHAOS. They come out with rules that are not specifically listed on the checklist, some of which did not exist years ago. Then they have sponsors telling the kids about the summer positions their offering, which were probably filled up 2 hours ago, just to have a kid put it as their top choice and be told it's full. Then why do you still have sponsors with already filled positions speaking to the kids? At some point, someone need's to make a note that all the positions for that site have been filled and that the sponsor can now leave or no longer needs to present. Or make an announcement to the kids. C'mon SoBro get it together!
