Initial email exchange with talent team. First call with hiring manager (an excitable sales engineer who seemed a bit out of his depth), followed up with a BIZARRE second call where the excitable, puppy-like ex-SE proceeded to mansplain me through how he would pitch Snowflake with some goofy, scribbly slides. Third call was with a principal sales engineer who couldn’t really articulate why he was even talking to me as part of the process. Standard generic automated rejection note - a real time waste after many hours of personal prep and research. Clearly they’re just looking for a ‘defector’ from their major competitor, but if so - why burn so many hours on both sides? Also - a note for any talent/DEI folks reading this… I have never EVER had aspects of my personal appearance joked about on a series of interview calls before. This tells me that there’s probably something rotten at the core of the diversity culture (and being interviewed/talked at exclusively by two white men).
