This was a phone screen with a recruiter. Evidently the recruiter was under the impression, before the interview even started, that I was highly under qualified for the role. The interview/screen was underwhelming on my part, given that the recruiter talked to me as though I had no idea what the job was about. Although my experience is twice a much as what the job required, the recruiter talked to me as though I was a Jr Designer. I believe this is because the recruiter fundamentally misunderstood what the job was about and assumed that slightly different job titles (i.e., UX Designer, Information Architect, etc) were vastly different from the job responsibilities they were hiring for. How bad was it? We didn't discuss the details of the job. We didn't even discuss my work history, skills, or how I might be qualified for the job. Afterwards, the recruiter even sent a job description for a completely different company! This company gets a lot of phrase, but this was awful.
