      Entrevista

      Great interview, HR not so great. If you decide to interview with SimpliSafe, it's going to be a lengthy process. It took 5 rounds spread through 4-5 weeks. I was assigned 2 HR internal recruiters and they helped me schedule my interviews. Although the interview process is lengthy, it was definitely a fun time. First interview was a phone screen with HR about logistics (moving on-site no assistance, etc.). Second interview was a video with the HM about fit with the team and gauging how you break down problems. Third interview was a video with another manager about technical skills and interpersonal skills. Fourth interview was another video technical interview about SQL, Python, data management, modeling, and special cases. Final interview was a video with a head of the department which was recapping fit and opportunity to grow. Overall, the team I interviewed with were all so friendly and enjoyable. My major tip is make sure to keep their core values in the back of your mind when presenting yourself- they really show it themselves. One of the HR recruiters in the team was very rude which ultimately allowed me to move away from signing the offer from SimpliSafe. They pretty much low-balled and kept changing terms in the offer. Even though you sign an NDA at the very beginning, they will not be transparent with you on how well the business is doing. It sounds like PR jargon to get you to move along the interview process and ultimately sign the offer. In this market, it's all about taking risks and that seems to be apparent at the end of this interview. SimpliSafe has its work cutout for them in the market of home security. They do own a good market share of the industry even for a company founded in 2008 and their B2C model could make them even more competitive in the future. Overall, SimpliSafe has a great engineering team that really wants to work with you on growing your career while also helping you learn the business. HR definitely needs some work on some things (avoid PR jargon, be transparent, take feedback better) but don't let that discourage you from starting the interview process. Hopefully, it was a one-off experience.
