The interview process is widely documented:
- gatekeeping, "do you know how to code" interview
- 2 "pair programming" (code challenge) interviews - these were LC easy
- one "Life Story" interview
- plus a bunch of back and forth with the recruiter
Interviewing on the precipice of a recession is never a fun place to be, but my current company was laying people off and cut our 401(k) match, so the signs were there that staying in my current job wouldn't necessarily be a sure thing either.
The entire interview process took about 6 weeks. I got a verbal offer, negotiated a little, and then was told I'd get a written offer in about 48 hours. It took over a month.
During that time, I looked on Blind and discovered many people were in the same boat. Existing employees told us not to worry, it was just due to a compensation overhaul that was happening.
Time ticked by. We all kept waiting, developing ulcers. Then news started to trickle in. There's a hiring "slowdown". People started getting their offers rescinded. Shopify pulled all but Staff+ job postings off their website.
I got my written offer, and accepted. I hope I made the right choice. I shut down my job search after I got the verbal offer, and I didn't feel like going through the rigmarole again. If I'd had other competing offers, I probably would have accepted one of those.

The gatekeeping interview was a hash/dict data structures type thing. I forget what the first technical interview was, but I think it also leaned heavily on hashes. The second interview was basic object oriented programming.
I'd brush up on modulo arithmetic, sets, basic data structures. The interviews were pretty easy, and I did really well on them. I think this is why I still got a written offer in the end.
I passed LRU cache coding in first interview
I had four more interview.
1. pair coding again LRU cache I did what I did in previous one
2. system design I desinged staff level architectire
3. Technical deep dive I explained my current technical structure
4. life story he asked what we talked first screening
I got rejected .
Important part All I had interview was native speaker. None has accent.

I recently completed the interview process at Shopify, which spanned about three weeks. The stages included an initial online cognitive assessment and a pair programming round, followed by a virtual onsite featuring a second pair programming session, a technical deep dive, system design, and a "life story" interview.
Overall, it was an excellent experience. The interviewers were professional and highly engaged throughout. I found the technical problems to be very practical, and notably, the use of AI coding tools was encouraged during the pairing sessions. While the system design requirements were quite lengthy, the complexity was manageable as long as you remain calm, think out loud, and clarify expectations early on.
Had an initial recruiter call, very friendly. Then had a life story interview, very friendly casual conversation as well speaking about past work experiences and how it led to where I am. Was scheduled for a 75 mins coding round, but I dropped since I landed another offer
