Entrevista
First interview was 15 min phone interview. Asked about salary, said they would let me know in second interview if reached that round. Got called for 2nd interview over Skype..one our chat on your life story etc. No technical questions about the role which I thought was strange. Asked about salary and was told couldn't say which was a red alert for me that maybe interview was going bad. Plus the fact it took over 3 weeks...any company needing talent would have it wrapped up in two weeks max.

Entrevista
Summary: Werid, too much effort, time-consuming and ineffective.
Step1: The job application started with requirements to create a trial store to demonstrate capability to add products collection, about me page, funny video page and a blog post "why I want to work for the Shopify Plus team". There has been so much effort involved for the job application even before getting to hear from a recruiter. Meanwhile, there has been several friendly shopify internal staff and third party partner got in contact about getting more sales for the store????
Step 2: Get up early for a casual, unstructured 15 mins Skype call to "tell us about yourself". After that, the recruiter did not take the initiative to tell me a little about the role to in exchange like they usually would. Instead she asked "Do you have any questions about the role" - Made me feel a little weird as she doesn't show interest ??? I only asked about the next steps, the recruiter said she would advise further whether there will be another longer conversation with herself or her team on a specific timeline.
Step 3: The recruiter didn't follow up to advise on the agreed timeline so I asked and she organised another super early call for a longer chat with her 2 weeks later. So the interview started off with the classic "Tell us your life story" - This seems like an easy one but it can be quite tricky because you want to come across personable to recount your life stories but you need to convey your life stories around the capability about the job and career? Such an open ended question but you in a monologue ramble awkwardness.
Step 4: The recruiter dropped me a miss call/voicemail to inform me about their decision to move forward with other candidates. No feedback and mutual value added experience like some other smart companies out there to see it as an opportunity to market themselves. If you try to make candidates to put decent amount of effort into the job application to test their sincerity, make sure you give something in return so they walk away with a great impression with Shopify.
