Applied online on Shell's website and after an hour I received an invitation to complete a 20-minute online assessment by HireVue within five days. The assessment involved two sections: one section with three game-based problem-solving exercises and another section with a personality test. To get an idea for the game-based exercises, look them up on YouTube. For the personality test, look out for a few rephrased questions; sometimes they’ll ask you the same thing, but rephrased each time, to test for consistency (my belief). The assessment was straightforward and user-friendly, perhaps one of the “easiest” online assessments I’ve done. I only accumulated three mistakes across the three game-based exercises, and each game had many rounds. You even get an automated report sent by email after you complete the assessment. The report is split into two parts and they’re based on the results from the game-based exercises and your personality test. Unfortunately, ten days later, I got an email saying Shell will not continue with my application because “due to the very high number of applications, other candidates were more suitable for the role”. This was very odd considering the very positive feedback from the automated report, apart from maybe some small remarks about being a bit individualistic. Perhaps the “individualist” trait let me down since I generally prioritise my work first.

I have uploaded my CV and Cover letter and then had to do different tasks related to memorizing and calculating areas. The last part was psychological questions.. All the applications forms were online.
