The interview process lasted approx. 1.5 months.
After I applied, the recruiter reached out for an initial call. I confirmed with him at that time that the position was a full-time remote one. He confirmed.
I was moved forward into the first round of interviews (one with a Staff TW and another with the HM, Director). Those talks went well, but the HM was late by over 15 minutes to my video call.
For the second and final round, they had me prepare a 20-25 minute presentation on my past work. I presented that in front of the recruiter and three new faces (the HM was supposed to attend but couldn't last minute).
After the presentation, I had to interview 1 on 1 with each of the attendees. They were either Staff TW or managers. I then had to interview with the HM again but this time he didn't even show up for our scheduled video call.
In any case, I received a call from the recruiter several days later saying that they wanted to hire me. He said that they'd prepare the offer and call again next week.
When the recruiter called again with the offer, I was surprised at how low it was, especially for a Staff role. I countered for just less than a 9% increase. He was quiet for at least a minute, then said that they can't offer that. So I told him that I was still very excited to join ServiceNow and for him to do his best to close the gap.
Well, the next day he calls three times! Each time he doesn't increase the offer by even 1k, but he also doesn't say that it's the final offer. Fyi, the offer was in the mid range of the comp range listed on the JD so they could do better if they wanted to. On top of that, he says that the position was always hybrid and not remote. Basically, it was a bait-and-switch.
I ended the last call by saying that I'm declining the offer and that was that. The offer was a lot lower than their competitors. And I only applied to remote positions, so I didn't appreciate being gaslit. Also the HM didn't prioritize or seem to care about my interviews.
A very disappointing experience because I really wanted to join, but it seemed like they didn't want me to. I would have considered if they showed that they wanted me to join by offering a bit more.
