      Entrevista

I received an email from someone at Sales Recruiting University, outlining EXTRA steps he wants me to go through in a COMMISSION ONLY ROLE. How out of touch do you have to be to expect me to go through salary-level vetting for a commission role? Get real. Anyways, part of his "process" was expecting me to take a test, and I do not take tests as part of employment. Here's why. There are three categories of test-takers that correspond to doing a job. 1) People who are good at tests AND good at doing the work. 2) People who are good at tests BUT BAD at doing the work. 3) People who are BAD at taking tests BUT GOOD at doing the work. I, and everyone else I know, falls into the last category, and regardless of which category one falls into, 2/3rd's of these categories a test does not demonstrate ability at all. If every candidate took tests that employers asked them to do, their already burdensome and bureaucratic job search would be considerably longer. Employers need to be far more conscientious of the time commitment candidates put into the job search, and they need to keep in mind, we are applying to HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS of applications. Chances are, you aren't the only one asking for us to take a test. With the above mentioned, I replied to his email and said I'm happy to do the video interview, but would not do a test without being compensated for my time and have it in writing and signed by the owner the results of the test would not be used against me in this process, or terminate me if I am hiring. Wouldn't you know it, moments later, he responds and says, "But note that we just capped on our hiring need actually, so best case we'd have to stay in touch in the future if you were a potential fit." Convenient how in 30 minutes, after calling you out for demanding more of my time unpaid (which I question the legality of), you go from being over the moon excited to have me move forward, to suddenly your hiring has been capped. Do you really think I believe you? And how dare you? This company has some true self-reflection to do. We may not own the company, and may only be lowly salespeople, but sales are what drives companies, and we deserve to be treated with respect.
