I applied and a little over a month later I was contacted for a phone screen interview. The interviewer told me a the conclusion of our phone screen that my experience was a match and they would recommend an onsite with the hiring manager as a next step but that ultimately it was the hiring manager's decision. I was told they would follow up with me about next steps by end of week. I didnt hear from the interviewer by end of week nor by midweek the following week, so I reached out to check in. No response. I waited another week (at this point 17 days past my interview and 14 since I was supposed to hear back) and sent a second and final email to provide closure simply stating "I'm going to assume by your silence you've gone in another direction." They then replied that they were going to put the role on hold but to keep them in mind.
