      Entrevista

Classic recruitment disaster with fickle promises, multiple false starts to perceived offers (making it seem things are a “go” and then vanishing), no actual commitment to moving the hiring process along, severely impaired follow-up communication which seemed deliberate…Basic details of the position would change from conversation to conversation without putting things in writing (in terms of their leadership). Psychiatry higher ups and county recruitment staff admitted they misinformed me about details of the position multiple times and would simply shrug off the fact that they wasted my time (which should have been used to move forward with other offers). For example at various points they claimed “72 hours” every 2 weeks is full time or that part time with pro rated benefits is possible vs not possible. In sum, the place is a mess and even recruiters and leadership can’t give reliable information so candidates don’t waste time. All very suggestive of severe systems issues and likely a toxic management style that couldn’t be “bothered” to move the process. Psychiatry higher ups and county “recruiters” just seem content to be getting their paychecks, but don’t genuinely care about recruiting. In addition, I suspect nepotism in terms of career growth potential. RUHS is very much a “boys club,” not female or family friendly, all psychiatry higher ups are distinctly male. Most of the physicians in the unit I was considering were male and upper management imposes 12-hour shifts (i.e. not “family friendly”). This is to make scheduling easier on themselves (since they have a need for coverage). Also gave vibes of being a very political place in terms of psychiatry higher ups and admin due to being a small department. At one point upper management (who blatantly ignore candidates’ attempts at follow up communication after making it appear you are hired…) seemed reluctant to meet in person or offer a tour before an employment contract is signed (usually it should be the other way around). I was asked if I rent or bought my home at one point (unprofessional personal questions). Feedback about recruitment barriers was met with classically dismissive statements like, “Sounds like it might not be a good fit.” Furthermore, I would steer away from their very messy faculty group affiliation with Loma Linda University FMG (highly unprofessional with months long delays responding to communication or plainly ignoring calls/Emails). I hope this review helps others not waste their time.

      Pregunta 1

They didn’t ask questions, they simply made fickle recruitment statements they didn’t follow through on, repeatedly admitted they misinformed me about position details, and then ignored attempts to communicate for follow up. They are completely inflexible despite appearing flexible (as a means to recruit desperately needed physicians since they rely on locums). Vague and even evasive when asked basic questions about clinical structure of the work setting (number of patients seen per shift, number of fulltime vs locums doctors etc). They expect most people to join their team without asking too many questions.
