It turned out to be a scam—they were essentially crowdsourcing ideas for their next project by exploiting candidates. They claimed the task would take only 6 hours, but for someone encountering their product for the first time, it was unrealistic—it required more than a day to complete properly. Such practices are unprofessional and exploitative. Can't believe it is funded by sequoia. They replied to my assignment after 7-8 days and without any feedback.
