the hiring process began as follows:
- standard intro with recruiter asking questions they had no clue about
- chat with CTO who was mighty boastful of the future of the company
- at this point, the title of the role changed from SRE automation engineer to what i mention above (CICD Automation-Devops Engineer) at which point i met with the engineer who i would be working with...very unenthusiastic and could really only say that the job had a lot of tight deadlines, nothing positive, though they did seem to like what i brought to the table and were excited when i explained my previous contributions at places i had worked as they had a lot of the same areas they needed help with
- finally, i spoke with the director/manager of the team i would be on...they came across as quite arrogant (explaining how they had the idea of cloud computing before AWS etc etc), but they did have specific examples of where they wanted to utilize my skills which were much different than the engineer i had spoke with before ( 🚩 ? ). i was honest about my skills and said networking was my weakness, and he then immediately began questioning me in the exact thing i said i wasn't strong in.
anyhoo, will admit that i feel like i dodged a bullet; oodles of ego and a not a lot to show for it.
