Received a call and a few emails from various recruiting members. Nothing out of the ordinary, just simple HR questions, such as: - Why do you want to work for Revature? - Can you relocate? - Various questions on your resume - Various questions about your programming experience. Once you 'pass' the HR screen, they schedule a phone call with a tech advisor, who will quiz you on simple Java questions, as well as basic OOP principles. After you pass the tech screen, the recruiter calls you back with your 'offer' which was for $24 an hour, AFTER training. You only get the $24 an hour if you're assigned to a project, and while training, you are paid in a stipend of $150 a week. They claim that since it's all training based, they do not need to pay you wages. This is a direct circumvention of the typical wage system in the US. I was told on the phone that during training you will be working on company projects. Overall, it was a very easy process, but I am not sold on the 10 weeks of training for $150 a week with no guarantee of placement. NOTES: - $150 per week stipend for 10 weeks of training - $24 per hour if you are assigned to a project - $1,000 per month given if you work in a major city such as NYC - You need to PAY BACK $23,000 if you do not get a project, OR you are let go, and you can be let go for ANY reason.
