      Entrevista

I'd love to share some feedback in regards to my experience during the interview process for the Digital Marketing Director position. Overall I felt I had a great connection with the team and exceeded all expectations during the interview period. They even asked me to do a very robust project and presentation to show my aptitude in the digital marketing space. I received nothing but positive feedback regarding my responses to digital marketing related questions and my management values. It is unfortunate, then, that on 4 separate occasions I was told I would receive feedback or be contacted within a certain time period, which turned out to not be the case. In each instance I waited at least 24 hours past the communicated deadline and then reached out to the hiring team; my emails were always met with a friendly, but unsettling reason as to why I had not been contacted. In my experience, when you know you are not able to deliver something in the time communicated you reach out and explain to the other person you are still working to get them what they need and give them a new deadline. When the topic of salary expectations was brought up I was informed a budget had not been set for the role yet (red flag). Further on in the interview process I was informed that the position had been tentatively filled approximately a year ago, but the offer had been rescinded (I am assuming) due to an internal misalignment. After over a month of interview, I was never informed of a salary range, even after giving a presentation; supposedly the last step in the interview process. Sadly, another example of poor communication. During the interview process I was asked to complete a very robust project, which I agreed to do. I spent several days and close to 15 hours working on the project. Expectations on the project delivery method were not clearly communicated to me. On the day of my presentation, (to which, I should mention all participating parties from Red Letter were 15 minute late to with no heads up about the delay) I discovered that the hiring manager was on vacation and would not be participating but rather would watch a recording of my presentation. Again, simple communication here would have set my expectations for the meeting. After giving my presentation and third interview on a Monday, I was assured that the hiring manager (who was out on vacation) wanted to make a decision by the end of the week - even though a (newer?) second candidate was having their second interview that same week (making a fair decision after unbalanced interviews felt odd to me). When I did not hear anything on Friday I contacted HR on the following Monday and asked when I could expect to hear about the role. I was told the hiring manager should reach out to me that day and they were planning to make a final decision by the end of that week. You can see where this is going. After three weeks of waiting and I have heard neither hide nor hare from HR or the hiring manager. I did however run into the job posting on a job board that was posted 9 days ago, meaning the job was posted during the "final decision" period I had been assured of for roughly three weeks. I decided to withdraw my application from consideration and offered to provide feedback to the team as to why I was doing so. I received an email back thanking me for my time, with no interest to learn about how their interview process feels on the receiving end. To summarize my interview experience with Red Letter I would say there is an unfortunate blindspot in the way of communication, clarity, and respect for those in the interviewing process. What they say are their core values are not lived out in the way the treat those looking to become a part of the Red Letter team.
