I applied online, for a phone screen interview. Questions: Talk about yourself, questions about my proficiency in Portuguese, salary expectations. Explained about the job. The hiring person then sent me forms to be filled with personal info for background check and the links to take the language assessment test. Second interview was with a manager. He asked me questions about my background, research tools, biggest achievements, strengths and weakness, what would my friends say about me. I got a feedback after all the tests and interviews saying they choose to move forward with another candidates. I replied asking for feedback so I can do better in the future but got no reply.

The HR representative was professional but clearly unprepared for the interview and not knowledgeable in how to answer questions. She rambled endlessley, tripping over her words and seemed so nervous like SHE was the one being interviewed. I was also told that they were not hiring at the moment as the role was filled but going forward as they predicited multiple openings in the future. I was told there were a total of 3 interviews... but no job? Just waste your time jumping through hoops with no official start date. It's quite clear at least HR or hiring managers are aware of their terrible work culture as I was told they were expecting multiple openings in 2025. Need to hire so quickly to replace people that instead of banking resumes, they decided to actaully just bank candidates and make them wait. The majority of my time was spent listening to the HR candidate ramble about the expectations of the job and trip over herself trying to explain over complicated office rules (obviously trying to dress them up for whoever is in charge). During my back and forth emails I specifically asked if she could let me know if she needed any more information from me prior to or on the day of. I essentially recieved no response to that, just a date and time confirmation. This horrible HR rep asked me to name EVERY SINGLE one of my previous employers, job titles, location, manager name, and why I left. My job history is over 10 years long and once I clarified with the rep she literally said to my face that she couldn't remember what all she had asked for in the question she had asked less than a minute ago. Was she just being nosey, unprepared with the interview questions, or just genuinely didn't care about my answers. It is very clear this company has a major culture issue that starts from the moment you apply. It looks like they underpay, over expect. and have useless, rambly HR reps.

Do you like long, in depth research or do you prefer short, quick projects? Not even an open ended conversation question - it was posed essentially like a multiple choice question. Patronizing.

The initial interview was 20-30 minute phone screen with someone on their HR team. I was asked about what kind of research I liked and how I preferred to conduct my research. The next step were a in-person interview.
