The process involved large volumes of paperwork, a background check, verification of U.S. citizenship and taxpayer status, and, finally, a phone interview. I had to pay for my own background check, which was a surprise. Most of the forms I had to complete were digital, though I had to print out PDFs to complete and sign (then scan and send) some. All of this screening is done as prior to the phone interview.
