The interview went in a place it never has to go, like auditing my taxes. These folks are not entitled to do IRS or CRA audit work. They did not disclosed upfront the terms of the general contract. They practice "bite and switch". They hit you with an unacceptable contract 48 hours before the start date (which was delayed two months) and make it like "take it or leave it". Nothing can be negotiated or changed. I was very flexible reducing my hourly rate 5% to give more room for their fees, I changed start date 3 times to match the client wishes, I offered to take another flight after just returning from another abroad travel. Some contract clauses are transferring their middleman business risks into contractor risks, like you can work but you may not be paid. Other clauses deprives the contractor of the protection of the contractual laws and employment laws in Canada. And more "bite and switch" and deceptive practices. I worked with this staffing agency between 2010-2011 and again now in 2016. No good results either time. I am professional certified in my business and I am a holder of two master degrees with 18 years of experience in my field, contracting for 13 years with private and public organization.
