Entrevista
First interview was with the Programme Manager and another Applications Support Engineer. Very conversational allowing for a good discussion of the company and my skill set and work history. Lasted 40 to 50 minutes.
The agency told me they were keen to get me in for a second interview a day or two after, and asked my availability for the following week, but I had to wait exactly four weeks for it as apparently the people required were on holiday.
Second interview was with the Customer Support Manager and a Senior Application Support Engineer and was more probing as they were enquiring about my work history and experience as well as a few competency type questions. More difficult than the first as expected, but seemed to go well. Lasted around 45 minutes.
I then had to chase the agency for just short of two weeks to hear the outcome, which was that I didn't have enough customer facing experience. Fair enough, but I felt this wasn't made prominent on the job advert or in the first interview. The whole process should have been a lot shorter with quicker replies to candidates.

Entrevista
First, two sets of interviews went very well. However, the person I needed for the third interview went on holiday the day he could have given me the final interview. Perfectly entitled to go on holiday but shows a lack of planning. I was made to wait two weeks for the third interview. When this eventually happened, I aced the interview, everything was positive and there were no indications there would be a problem.
They advertised the role at £38, however, were not willing to pay this citing HR was going through a "financial restructure".
I was then made to wait a further THREE weeks to get an answer and that answer was, "The candidate is too senior for the role and will find it boring". None of these questions asked during the interview by the way.
Terrible way to treat someone who had put all of that effort into securing the role. I could see their point if I did not perform in an interview.
I have since discovered that the manager was concerned for his own role and by hiring me, he felt threatened.
If Rambus do not want the talent in their company, then stop interviewing them and discover that they are too senior during the FIRST interview, if not, the second at least, then let them know of their success below a 2 month period, say one week max (like other sensible companies).
I hope this never happens to him, very poor show indeed from a company that spouts about values!

No competency based interview, which was refreshing. They got to know the real person and job that I do. Competency-based interviews have had their fad time.
