I applied online and received an email from talent acquisition inviting me for an initial phone call to further discuss the role and my interest. I advanced through multiple rounds of interviews, including a portfolio walkthrough and live whiteboard challenge. The live whiteboard challenge was completely flawed. They emailed me a FigJam link to pre-read the design prompt one hour before my interview, but they did not inform me that they would be sending it to me one hour ahead of time, so I was unable to review the link until a few minutes before my interview. I completed the whiteboard challenge with their Head of Design and Research, who did not contribute or act as a collaborator during the challenge. She was literally a fly on the wall. The whiteboard challenge was sectioned into a few different tasks around a hypothetical product challenge unrelated to their domain. I had like 2 minutes to define the problem, 2 minutes to brainstorm, 3 minutes to define a solution, 4 minutes to design a few screens, and 4 minutes to review everything. The whole challenge was not indicative of any real-world, on-the-job scenario. It was unclear to me what exactly they were gauging in this whiteboard challenge or what the success metrics were. After completing the whiteboard challenge, I received a generic rejection email that they were moving forward with other candidates. After completing multiple interview rounds and a whiteboard challenge, they did not provide any feedback about my performance.
