Entrevista
I had the first phone interview with a recruiter, who was very nice. We chatted casually about my experience and the next day she asked me to schedule a phone interview with the hiring manager.
There were many things I did not like about this interview. Here are two major ones:
1. I had a previous internship at a major tech company, and the hiring manager did not believe the work I had done there. He kept questioning my ability to do what I listed on my resume, and tearing apart the words I used to describe it. He kept arguing that what I was saying was not the way companies worked and no one would give such responsibility to an intern. I feel the need to explain that this company does treat interns as full-time employees and gives full ownership of projects for the duration of their internship. Regardless of this, it is an ugly way to act in an interview, and I should have asked him to contact my previous manager for reference, but I didn't have the courage at the time. I'm an honest person and by no means I was trying to trick him into believing I did something that I didn't.
2. When I asked about the company culture, he mentioned that they had just hired some ladies (he used that word), and that it would be great because I could go chat with them. He said that he knows (apparently because he has a wife and a daughter) that women need some girl talk. And that boys go with boys and girls go with girls, and that's how it is.
Besides these, during the entire hour-long phone interview, I felt that his demeanor was rather hostile and rude.
Plexium and the job seemed promising and I was excited about the opportunity but unfortunately, for me, it was an EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE.
